By funding the relief efforts of local organizations, there's potential to build stronger response capacity so that these organizations are better equipped to face future challenges. We believe that organizations that are deeply rooted in local communities are best positioned to provide long-term support for survivors of natural disasters like hurricanes. Once initial relief work was completed, the fund transitioned to support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations. The purpose of this MARADMIN is to provide an update of awards since the last update, MARADMIN 264/19. Initially, the fund helped first responders meet the immediate needs of affected communities, including food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter. About 500,000 homes and businesses are still without power in North and South Carolina.
